Executive Accountant
About the role
NexTen Brands is building a world-class "A-Team" to disrupt the D2C space. Our accounting function needs to be fast, accurate, and bulletproof. We are looking for an Executive Accountant who brings a massive amount of Common Sense to the table. You are someone who doesn't just "process" a bill but understands the business logic behind it.
This is a high-ownership role for a proactive doer who wants to learn the inner workings of an early-stage startup and is looking to scale their career rapidly into finance management.
The NexTen Persona
High Common Sense: You don't follow instructions blindly. If a transaction looks "off," you investigate it before being told.
The Hustler: You are fast, efficient, and move with a sense of urgency. You understand that in a startup, "speed is a feature."
Scalable: You are a fast learner. Today you handle bookkeeping; tomorrow you lead audit closures and financial strategy.
Proactive & Accurate: You hate "messy" ledgers. You take pride in a reconciliation that balances to the last decimal on the first try.
Your Scope of Impact (KRAs)
Bulletproof Bookkeeping: Own the end-to-end accounting process in Zoho Books. Ensure every transaction is recorded accurately and categorized correctly under first-principles logic.
Bank & Gateway Reconciliation: Tally bank statements and payment gateways daily. You identify and resolve discrepancies before they become "issues."
- Accounts Payable (The Vendor Partner): Proactively manage vendor payments. You don't wait for reminders; you ensure our partners are paid on time while optimizing cash flow.
Accounts Receivable (The Collector): Follow up on customer and platform receivables with a "get it done" attitude. You ensure NexTen’s money is in NexTen’s bank account.
Regulatory Guardian: Own the filing and compliance for GST, TDS, PF, and Professional Tax. You stay ahead of deadlines and ensure the company is 100% compliant at all times.
Audit Readiness: Keep all documentation organized so that we are "audit-ready" every single day.
Data Mastery: Use MS Excel to prepare weekly and monthly reports. You don't just provide numbers; you provide clarity on where we are spending and where we can save.
Requirements
The Tools: Hands-on experience with Zoho Books and advanced MS Excel (Pivots, Vlookups, and clean data formatting).
Technical Foundation: Solid understanding of Accounting Principles and the practical application of Invoicing, Payable, receivable, GST, TDS, Professional Tax, PF, Income Tax, monthly and annual filings.
Communication: Clear, direct communication skills. You can explain a financial discrepancy simply to non-finance stakeholders.
Mindset: A "No-Excuses" attitude. You take initiative to improve existing processes rather than just maintaining them.
